Privacy Policy
This Place Is Ours (“TPO,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) builds private, invite-only community platforms for creative groups. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our website (thisplaceisours.com) and our community mobile applications, including Project Freefall (together, the “Services”).
Our communities are private. They are not public social networks, we do not show advertising, and we do not sell personal information. We collect only what we need to run the Services.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. Your name, email address, and password when you create an account. Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing; we never store or see your plain-text password.
- Profile information. Optional details you choose to add, such as a bio, profile and cover photos, links, and interests.
- Content you create. Posts, comments, polls, photos, project pages, work opportunities, feedback submissions, and direct messages (including photos and voice notes) that you share within your community.
- Communications with us. Messages you send to us, such as support requests or beta feedback.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data. Basic technical information needed to operate and secure the Services, such as device type, app version, IP address, and timestamps of sign-ins and requests.
- Push notification token. If you enable notifications, we store the device token needed to deliver them. Notifications are optional and can be turned off at any time.
We do not collect your precise location, contacts, or browsing history, and the Services contain no advertising or third-party tracking SDKs.
2. How we use information
- To provide the Services: operating your community, displaying your profile and content to fellow members, and delivering messages and notifications.
- To keep the Services safe: authenticating sign-ins, preventing abuse, enforcing community guidelines, and reviewing reported content.
- To improve the Services: diagnosing crashes and fixing bugs, including feedback and crash reports you choose to submit during beta testing.
- To communicate with you about your account or the Services.
3. Who can see your information
- Members of your community. Your profile and the content you post are visible to other members of your private community, according to the visibility of each feature (for example, direct messages are visible only to their participants).
- Community administrators. Admins of your community can view member profiles, moderate reported content, and manage membership.
- Service providers. We use a small number of infrastructure providers (such as web hosting and Apple’s push notification service) that process data solely on our behalf.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our members.
We never sell personal information, and we never share your content outside your community for marketing purposes.
4. Beta testing (TestFlight)
If you participate in a beta test of one of our apps through Apple’s TestFlight, Apple may share with us feedback you submit, screenshots you attach, and anonymized crash logs and usage statistics, as described in TestFlight’s own terms. We use this information only to improve the app.
5. Data retention and deletion
- We keep your information for as long as your account is active.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Account → Delete account). Deleting your account removes your profile and disassociates or removes your content as described in the app.
- You can also request deletion by emailing us at hello@thisplaceisours.com. We respond to verified requests within 30 days.
- Residual copies may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period before being purged on a rolling schedule.
6. Security
All traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS/TLS. Sessions use rotating, revocable credentials, passwords are hashed, and access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, but we design for privacy and least access from the start.
7. Children
The Services are intended for adults 18 and older. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Membership is invite-only and intended for adult creative communities.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise most of these directly in the app (edit your profile, delete your content, delete your account), or contact us at hello@thisplaceisours.com and we will help.
9. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above and notify members in the app or by email before the changes take effect.
